Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT Tapping)
Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), commonly known as tapping, is a wellbeing practice that combines aspects of mindfulness, self-reflection, and gentle acupressure.
It involves lightly tapping on specific points on the face and upper body while focusing on thoughts, feelings, or experiences you wish to explore.
EFT was developed in the 1990s by Gary Craig. Many people find it helpful for supporting emotional regulation, easing everyday stress, and reflecting on unhelpful thought patterns.
EFT can be used as a standalone practice or alongside other wellness or healthcare approaches.
Thought Field Therapy (TFT Tapping)
Thought Field Therapy (TFT) is a predecessor to EFT, developed in the 1980s by clinical psychologist Dr. Roger Callahan. TFT also uses tapping on body points but follows structured sequences tailored to specific areas of concern. While EFT uses a standardised sequence suitable for broad self-use, TFT sequences vary depending on the emotional or psychological focus, such as anxiety, phobias, or challenging emotions.
Both EFT and TFT can be supportive tools for emotional awareness, relaxation, and self-reflection. They are designed to help you notice and process thoughts or feelings in a safe, mindful way.

During a session, techniques are client-led and guided, meaning you can pause, modify, or focus on what feels right for you. Sessions are designed to create a supportive space for self-awareness, reflection, and relaxation.
Temporal tapping is a gentle technique where you tap lightly on the sides of the head, just above the ears, while repeating an affirmation or positive thought. This practice is often used after exploring challenging emotions or unhelpful thought patterns, to help reinforce new, empowering perspectives.
The sides of the head are where the temporal lobes of the brain are located. These areas are involved in processing language, memory, and emotions. By tapping gently while speaking affirmations, you can support mindful reflection and emotional awareness, helping you notice and integrate new thoughts or intentions.
During a session, I may guide you to tap on both sides of the head:
One side can support releasing unhelpful thought patterns or beliefs.
The other side can help affirm positive intentions or desired perspectives.
This approach is designed to create a balanced, reflective experience, encouraging calm, focus, and clarity. It is gentle, client-led, and adaptable to your comfort level throughout the session.
