Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT Tapping)
Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), commonly known as tapping, is a holistic healing method that combines elements of cognitive therapy, exposure therapy, and acupressure.
It involves tapping on specific meridian points on the body—primarily on the face and upper body—while focusing on emotional distress, limiting beliefs, or physical discomfort.
Developed in the 1990s by Gary Craig, EFT is based on the idea that negative emotions and trauma are linked to disruptions in the body's energy system.
By tapping on these key acupressure points while acknowledging the problem, individuals may help restore balance to the energy flow, reduce stress, and promote emotional well-being.
EFT is widely used for anxiety, phobias, PTSD, chronic pain, and emotional blocks. It can be used as a standalone method or alongside an existing wellness or healthcare plan.
Thought Field Therapy (TFT Tapping)
Thought Field Therapy (TFT) is the predecessor to EFT, developed in the 1980's by Dr. Roger Callahan, a clinical psychologist.
TFT also involves tapping on meridian points while focusing on emotional distress, but it follows specific tapping sequences tailored to different concerns and can use different tapping locations on the body. While both techniques aim to support emotional and energetic balance, EFT simplifies the process by using a standardised tapping sequence that can be applied more broadly.
TFT, on the other hand, uses a more structured approach, with sequences varying depending on the issue being addressed.
For example: There’s a distinct algorithm for trauma, which might include a precise sequence like tapping under the eye → under the arm → collarbone.
Both EFT and TFT methods are valued for their ability to reduce stress, support emotional regulation, and complement other wellness practices.
Many people find EFT more accessible for self-use, while TFT may appeal to those seeking a structured technique within a holistic approach.
As an example, you may seek TFT sessions specifically to help begin the process of easing and releasing:
trauma
Anxiety
anger
guilt
or phobias.
Temporal tapping involves tapping around the temples—specifically, on the sides of the head just above the ears—while repeating an affirmation or belief you'd like to "lock in" to your system. It’s often used after clearing limiting beliefs or emotional blocks, to replace them with empowering thoughts.
The sides of the head are where the temporal lobes of the brain are located. These areas are associated with processing language, memory, and emotional meaning. By tapping gently here while speaking affirmations, you're essentially working with both the nervous system and subconscious mind to support the integration of new thoughts or patterns.
During a session, I may guide you through a gentle tapping technique that works with both sides of the head to support emotional and mental balance. Tapping on one side can help you release limiting beliefs or patterns, while the other side helps affirm and reinforce what you do want to feel or create in your life. This simple but powerful method gently aligns your thoughts, emotions, and energy — helping you move forward with more clarity and confidence.
All Tapping Sessions 60 minutes ~ $75
